..:: 20 years StarinkWorld - a "brief" retrospection [4] ::..

In 2010 I conducted two interviews – one with Edwin Schimscheimer and the other one with Lex Bolderdijk. Both interviews were conducted in December 2010.

Edwin did several arrangements for Ed's Star Inc. label (for example „The Queen Songbook“) but worked also as a session musician with Ed. Again there are great insights how artists experienced working with Ed and as an appetizer I got the following quote for you:

"I think after all I can say that it was such a fantastic training for me arranging all those different styles of music, producing, playing, programming, conducting, organising and working with so many different people, dealing with time schedules etc. One of my best memories is that Ed later 'forced' me to write a fuga out of my head. Never thought I could do it but thanks to his great teaching I did it."

The interview with Lex was quite interesting as well. Although Ed can also play the guitar himself he hired Lex as a session guitarist for several of his productions. By the way: Lex Bolderdijk appeared often as Alex Bollard on these productions.

The following year we only had some minor changes. For example we deleted the "MySpace" account as the site became rather buggy and we only had a few visitors there.

More to come in 2012.

In 2012 we established the StarinkWorld group on Facebook to reach more fans and also to have a better interaction with them.

In spring 2012 Ed finished the recordings of the first part from the "Universe Symphony" – the "Piano Works" has been released in May 2012. He had this gigantic project in mind since he was a child and started preparing/composing in 2002.

On that occassion the Starink's visited me and presented to me a wooden and engraved USB flash drive, containing the whole "Piano Works" with a total runnig time of more than ten hours. For this epic symphony Ed invented a special musical scale for his compositions. The "Piano Works" consist of several, very different composition and arrangement techniques like for example dodecaphony and polytonality.

This flash drive also contains an introduction written by Ed himself, a foreword written by his friend Felix Visser (Synton), and all the relevant sheet-musics – these documents are available for download on the StarinkWorld website.

This again was a tremendous moment and these are great memories which I will never forget.
